In 2009 the Notre Dame Club of Japan helped host the biggest event of its 40+ year history: The Notre Dame Legends Japan Bowl!
The Notre Dame Legends Japan Bowl Game was held at the Tokyo Dome on July 25, 2009 to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Japan American Football Association (JAFA). A contingent of former ND football players was led by former Head Coach Lou HOLTZ; 21,000 persons attended the game. The Notre Dame Club of Japan welcomed all of the ND Legends to Tokyo with a sit down welcome dinner on Friday night, July 24, 2009 attended by 325 persons. Former Chiba Lotte Marines baseball team manager Bobby VALENTINE, Ireland Ambassador to Japan Brendan SCANNELL and Coach Lou HOLTZ were the speakers and head table guests of honor for this UND Football Legends Week in Japan.
